Getting to Valfréjus without a car: TGV, Frecciarossa, S50 bus

Modane station 6 km away, direct trains from Paris and Italy, bus up to the resort: Valfréjus is one of the most train-friendly resorts.

By train to Modane

Modane station (1,057 m), the last French station before the rail tunnel, is served by:

  • direct TGV inOui from Paris (about 4 h) and, in season, TGVs to the valley’s resorts;
  • Frecciarossa (Trenitalia) on the Paris – Lyon – Turin – Milan axis;
  • TER Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes regional trains from Chambéry and Lyon;
  • regional trains to Turin at weekends.

Check the line status before booking: the Maurienne line had a long interruption after the August 2023 landslide; services have resumed but timetables change.

From the station to the apartment

The resort is 6 km away. The S50 bus links the station to Valfréjus in about 30 minutes (tickets to be booked, more frequent on winter Saturdays). In autumn there is an on-demand transport service. Taxi possible for a group. [[À COMPLÉTER PAR SAM]] (recommended taxi, indicative price).

Once there

Everything is on foot: lifts 50 m away, shops and restaurants at the foot of the building, free shuttle to La Norma with the ski pass. You will not need a car all week.

By plane

Chambéry, Grenoble, Geneva, Lyon and Turin are less than 2 h away by road; in winter, buses link Chambéry airport to the Haute Maurienne.
