The Fréjus tunnel
The Fréjus road tunnel (nearly 13 km, opened in 1980) links Modane to Bardonecchia (Piedmont). The French entrance is 15 minutes from the apartment via the D216 and the A43. Toll each way: prices and offers (same-day return, cards) on the operator’s website (SFTRF). Have your vehicle papers ready; Italian motorways use classic tolls, no vignette.
