Albertville and the medieval town of Conflans: Olympic city and fortified village

The 1992 Winter Olympics host city hides the medieval town of Conflans on its hill: ramparts, the Red House, a Baroque church and views over the Combe de Savoie. 1 h 15 away, on the road to Annecy.

Conflans

Above the modern town, Conflans is a fortified medieval village: the Porte de Savoie gate, a large square with its fountain, the Maison Rouge (art and history museum, 14th century), the Baroque church of Saint-Grat with its altarpiece, and the Tour Sarrasine gardens overlooking the confluence of the Arly and the Isère. Cobbled lanes, craftspeople, café terraces. Free to wander at your own pace.

Albertville

Host town of the 1992 Winter Olympic Games: the Olympic Hall (ice rink, climbing), the Olympic park and the museum devoted to the Games recall the event. Large shops, and a market on Thursdays.
